Haiku #11: Dreams

Dreams reflect our minds

PHP: Get a Random Element from Array, Biased

This is a function that fetches a random element from an array. However, it’s not like array_rand(), because you can bias the results so that some elements have a better chance of being picked. This is done by having an associated array with the elements to be fetched as keys and the relative probability as the values.

Dream #0: Polymorphing Sugar

I’ve decided to try to start a dream log. This is what I remembered when I awoke this morning:

I was on a train that transported sugar. For some reason I killed the driver and detached all of the carts, after which I jumped off the last cart. The rails turned into a river, and I desperately clinged to the edge to avoid the current. Unfortunately, the sugar that fell from the other carts turned into logs and hit me. I managed to climb up, where I found my girlfriend. We went to buy two horses, two swords and two bows. We bought no helmet, because it was illegal to look too much like an elf. After that, we went to an underground bar to buy some sugar. We placed ourselves in the wrong side of the line, though, and that mistake resulted in a fight. After she had accidentally headbutted me, we left and I woke up.

‘Cause I’m logical

Ok, I use hexadecimal in the haiku count because it’s cool. But it really is logical. I mean, ten? That’s certainly not a power of two. It’s barely even.

Haiku #9: B-One

B-One lacks support
Their software is decaying
Guess why they are cheap

Never rent shared hosting from B-One (or One, they just change their name). Apart from being down a couple of minutes every day, they lie. 15 minutes to change from PHP 4 to PHP 5? I stayed awake for two hours waiting. The change was done when I woke up eight hours later.

Also, they seem to have forgotten how to update their software. WordPress Plugin: Chemical Formula Formater

Chemical Formula Formater is a WordPress plugin that automatically formats chemical formulae. Ok, not really formulae, but it alters the chemical notation of elements. What it really does is adding _{tags to any numbers between 0 and 99 following chemical elements.}

Example

Let’s say I write O2 (an oxygen molecule). Chemical Formula Formater automatically alters it to: O₂.

Download and Install

• Download the zipped Chemical Formula Formater 1.0.
• Unzip the file and upload it to your plugin directory, wp-content/plugins/.
• Activate the plugin through the “Plugins” tab in your WP-Admin.
• That’s it! It doesn’t even have an options page!
