HTS Basic Web 1: Check the Source

The first mission in the Basic Web category, also known as the idiot test, is certainly not a very realistic mission. It isn’t supposed to, either — It is supposed to teach you the basics needed to solve these missions. In these situations, you should always begin with looking at the source code. If you are using Firefox (which I definitely recommend), right-click and choose View source. In this level, the solution is actually written there:

Input the password (in this case it is abcd1234, but you should have another one) in the password field and press enter. 11. He tells you everything you need. You view source by right-clicking. You scroll down and find…

…or you can just in this page “password.” Then it tells you what the password is, so all you need to do is copy paste it into the box…

  12. Well, it isn’t “abcd1234″, that’s for sure. I’m confused.
Not only do I not see that line in the source code, but I don’t see ANY like giving a password.

    Comment by Lyss — July 30, 2007 @ 8:31 am

  13. Lyss: “abcd1234″ was an example. As DK said, search for “password”. Anyway, you will have to learn how to look through the source code.

  16. You people asking questions are morons, especially the first task. If you have to say the pasword wasn’t “password1234″ you should not legally be allowed around a computer. If you don’t know the answers, learn, do research and learn how to program. What is the point of winning or being successful when it isn’t real because you are a loser that can’t do anything for yourself. It really defeats the entire point of being a hacker. Eat shit.
